Our integrated cognitive treatment approach allows our therapists and nurses to develop a more comprehensive understanding of each individual under our care. Our staff uses the Allen cognitive assessments to identify a person’s functional cognitive abilities and combines this with their personal life history or “life footprint”. Your loved one’s “life footprint” includes information about their likes and dislikes, their habits and significant accomplishments and the many things their family remembers and cherishes about them. The “life footprint” together with the information gathered from the cognitive assessments is used to develop a plan of care focusing on an individual’s specific needs unique to their personal situation. Further, this treatment approach helps reduce the anxiety and negative interactions and the stress and burden of care giving by educating caregivers in adaptive techniques and therapeutic approaches to enable the patient to live at their best functional ability with the recommended level of assistance. This integrated cognitive treatment program is instrumental in setting up the best care environment for our patients who may be struggling with dementia at all levels of severity, bringing peace into the homes of our patients, their loved ones and caregivers.
